The International Blues Challenge takes place in Memphis January 28 – February 1, 2020.  Over 250 bands  and solo/duo acts from around the world participate annually, and the excitement on Beale Street is palpable!  In addition to being a competition, it is an amazing networking opportunity.  Festival promoters are there in droves, looking for new acts to book at their events, and judging is done by world-renowned blues luminaries. San Diego has performed well there in past years, with Sue Palmer, Aunt Kizzy’s Boys featuring Sugaray Rayford,  and Nathan James & Ben Hernandez scoring high honors.  Blues Lovers United of San Diego was not represented last year because we did not receive enough entries to hold a competition.  Please don’t let that happen again!  Our local competition will be held at Tio Leo’s Lounge from 1-5 pm on 8/4/,  8/11 and 8/18 this year.  We want YOU to be a part of it!  The winning band will receive $900 per member (up to $3600) to offset travel expenses.  Entry fees are $25 for member bands, and $50 for non-member bands.  Contact gro.dsulbnull@ofni for an application NOW!
